People often ask me why I'm choosing the career path I am. More specifically, they say, "Why would you ever want to plan weddings?" or "It's not as fun as it looks."
While, yes I am aware that planning takes a lot of well, planning, I have come to a conclusion that answers that question for me.
I want to bring joy to people's lives.
It's that simple. And although we all have certain characteristics that facilitate bringing joy in many different ways, I believe that my skill set in creative planning is the best way that I can bring joy to others. And how did I figure this out? Well, I have a couple of explanations that support this growing passion of mine!
1) I like doing things for people. I am most definitely proud to call myself a people pleaser! One of my biggest priorities in life is to have the people around me not worry. So, I like to plan for them. I organize and prioritize what they need to do in order to be successful or content. In event planning, I am able to take care of all of their desires without having them stress about it because I'm committed to making them satisfied!
2) I need to acknowledge all of the details in a project. I think by going through lists in my head and checking off every task that needs to be completed. I can't rest until it's all done. This is how I work in school, at my job, with chores and especially with events/weddings.
3) Who doesn't love a party or a wedding? I don't know about you, but weddings are my favorite types of events. You get to witness love and celebration not only for a couple but for a whole family! Being a small part of that process means that I'm able to bring my own passion and skills to make others happy. Plus, free food is always important!
4) I have a passion. It's a simple but perfectly fitting statement that doesn't need any explanation. It's just something I truly enjoy doing. We all have passions and they're all different for each of us. I think that applying your passion to a career is the best thing you can do with your life and you don't need to explain yourself to anyone who questions that!
As you can see, I am a huge advocate for doing what you love. And these are just some of the reasons I chose to go into this field.
I stumbled upon this word the other day on Pinterest (of course) and I think what it means is so fitting to what I'm trying to articulate to you guys:

This is going to be so so cheesy BUT I hope you all find the meraki you're looking for! Go out and find that passion of yours and apply it to your life! I can promise that it will only bring deep joy and satisfaction to be working with something you love.
